An SHO from Nanpara police station has been removed from duty, and three policemen, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), have been suspended in connection with a molestation case involving three Dalit girls, police reported on Wednesday.
The incident took place last Sunday when three Dalit girls visiting a weekly market were allegedly molested by two men, Salman and Aslam, who run a meat shop. The police explained that when the girls and one of their brothers protested, the accused attacked them with knives, causing injuries to several people including a 19-year-old girl.
Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla confirmed the arrest of all nine accused by Tuesday. Negligence charges led to the removal of Station House Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh to the lines, while the local inspector Ashok Kumar and two head constables were suspended.
