BJP MP Anil Baluni, who represents Garhwal in the Lok Sabha, met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday. During the meeting, he advocated for the establishment of two passport centres in his hilly constituency.
Baluni highlighted the region's challenging and remote terrain to support his demand, stressing that the new centres would significantly benefit the local population, especially the youth. He recommended setting up the passport centres in Gopeshwar and Kotdwar.
In response to Baluni's appeal, the external affairs minister assured him of a positive consideration of the request, according to Baluni.
