Germany Bans Islamic Centre Hamburg, Iran Summons Ambassador
Iran's foreign ministry summoned the German ambassador in Tehran after Germany decided to ban the Islamic Centre Hamburg (IZH) association, citing its alleged ties to Iran's Supreme Leader and aims to incite an Islamic revolution in Germany.
Iran's foreign ministry summoned the German ambassador in Tehran on Wednesday following Berlin's decision to ban the Islamic Centre Hamburg (IZH) association, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Germany's interior ministry announced on Wednesday that it had banned the organisation and its affiliates, accusing the IZH of acting as a direct representative of Iran's Supreme Leader and aiming to incite an Islamic revolution in Germany to establish theocratic rule.
Attempts to reach the IZH for comment on Wednesday were unsuccessful, as phone calls went unanswered and its website was inaccessible to the public.
