Today, the Indian Army contingent set off for the Multinational Military Exercise KHAAN QUEST, scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 9, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This international exercise aims to enhance peacekeeping capabilities through collaboration among military forces from various nations.

KHAAN QUEST began as a bilateral event between the United States and the Mongolian Armed Forces in 2003. Since 2006, it has evolved into a Multinational Peacekeeping Exercise, with this year marking its 21st iteration.

The Indian Army's contingent consists of 40 personnel, primarily from a Battalion of the Madras Regiment, with additional members from other Arms and Services. The team includes one woman officer and two women soldiers.

The primary objective of KHAAN QUEST is to prepare participating forces for peacekeeping missions within a multinational framework, enhancing interoperability and military readiness in line with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The exercise will emphasize physical fitness, joint planning, and tactical drills.

Participants will engage in various tactical drills, including establishing static and mobile checkpoints, conducting cordon and search operations, patrolling, evacuating civilians from hostile areas, countering improvised explosive devices, and providing combat first aid and casualty evacuation.

KHAAN QUEST will also serve as a platform for sharing best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for joint operations. It is expected to foster greater interoperability, camaraderie, and cooperation among soldiers from the participating countries.
