The Maharashtra government has officially requested advance notice from Telangana regarding any potential water discharge from the Medigadda Dam, attributed to heavy rainfall in the region.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is responsible for water resources, emphasized that Telangana's significant rainfall could require releasing water from the dam.
The water resources department is in active communication with Telangana's irrigation department to ensure preparedness. Fadnavis confirmed that the principal secretary and the executive engineer have been asked to provide timely updates before any water release.
Meanwhile, the Bhandara region in Maharashtra is experiencing heavy rainfall, prompting the opening of all 33 gates of the Gosikhurd Dam. Entire emergency measures are in place to handle the situation, Fadnavis added.
