The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights registered a case against the YouTube channel 'Mazhavil Kerala' on Sunday, citing privacy violations involving the son of a lorry driver who went missing in a landslide in Karnataka.
The case arose after a viral video showed the channel's anchor questioning the child about his missing father, Arjun, instead of providing comfort to the family. The Commission deemed this act as an invasion of the child's privacy.
Authorities have solicited reports from the District Police Chief, the YouTube channel, and other involved parties. Arjun had been transporting timber when the landslide occurred on July 16, and a multi-agency search effort is ongoing to locate him.
