The police wielded lathis to disperse a group of kanwariyas who were allegedly heading towards a women's bathing area in Lohargal Dham, Jhunjhunu district, officials said on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday night when the Kanwar Yatra reached the site.
Superintendent of Police Rajasrhi Raj Verma reported that while kanwariyas were taking water after bathing in the 'kund', some created a disturbance and moved towards another 'kund' designated for female devotees. Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC) Jawans tried to contain the situation.
However, the scenario escalated as more kanwariyas gathered on the scene, prompting the police to wield lathis to prevent them from moving towards the women's 'kund'. The situation was ultimately brought under control, Verma added.
