Delhi Police has reached out to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for information on the status of drain desilting near the Rajinder Nagar coaching center, following a flood that tragically claimed the lives of three civil services aspirants.
Authorities are investigating if any prior complaints against the coaching institute were lodged with the MCD, and what measures, if any, were taken in response.
"We may question MCD officials about the desilting of drains and the clearance certificate issued to Rau's IAS Study Circle, where three students died due to basement flooding," disclosed a senior police officer.
It is alleged that the ineffective drainage system near the coaching center caused significant rainwater buildup, leading to the basement flooding.
Delhi Police will also seek detailed reports from the MCD on drain cleaning and the number of area inspections conducted. Additionally, they have requested the occupancy certificate for the basement, reportedly intended for parking and storage.
