Markande Tiwari, known for his outcry for action against former Andaman and Nicobar Island chief secretary Jitendra Narain amid rape allegations, was discovered lifeless inside his vehicle in Port Blair.

According to eyewitnesses, Tiwari's car veered off the road around 2:30 PM on Sunday while reversing near his Chakkar Gaon residence, eventually hitting an electric pole.

Bystanders found Tiwari unconscious inside the car and rushed him to GB Panth Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, police reported.

''A post-mortem examination conducted on Monday revealed no external injuries, and we're awaiting the conclusive report to determine the cause of death,'' stated a senior police officer.

Narain was previously arrested for his alleged role in a gang rape case involving a 21-year-old woman in 2022 after his bid for anticipatory bail was rejected by the court.
