Man Attacks Ex-Girlfriend with Iron Rod: A Grim Tale of Rejected Love

A 31-year-old man attacked his former girlfriend with an iron rod in Navi Mumbai after she refused his marriage proposal, police confirmed on Monday.

The accused, Pritam Mhatre, was apprehended a few days after the incident at a beach, where he assaulted the 24-year-old woman in the presence of her friends, officials reported.

Following the attack, the injured woman was rushed to a hospital and is now receiving treatment for head injuries. Authorities have registered a case of attempted murder under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

The woman, who works at a school, is recovering. This violent episode closely follows another incident in Uran, Navi Mumbai, where a young woman was murdered by a man allegedly harassing her. The accused in that case remains at large.
