Macron Urges Iran to Curtail Support for Russia and Address Nuclear Issues

French President Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, warned against Iran's support for Russia's actions in Ukraine. He stressed the need for Iran to play a stabilizing role in Lebanon-Israel tensions, halt its nuclear escalation, and release three French hostages.

French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a stern warning to his Iranian counterpart, Massoud Pezeshkian, against Iran's ongoing support for Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine. Macron made these remarks during a phone call on Monday, as confirmed by the Elysee Palace.

In addition to addressing the Ukraine conflict, Macron urged Iran to play a constructive role in mitigating tensions between Lebanon and Israel by ceasing support for destabilizing actors.

The French President also called for Iran to halt the worrying progress of its nuclear program and comply with international regulations. He emphasized that the release of three French hostages is essential for improving bilateral relations.
