In a significant breakthrough, Navi Mumbai police have apprehended a man suspected of murdering a 20-year-old woman whose body was discovered near Uran railway station. The accused, Dawood Sheikh, was detained in Shahapur area of Gulbarga, Karnataka, according to local authorities.
The victim's body, found in the early hours of Saturday, suggests the murder occurred on Friday afternoon. The woman had reportedly taken a half-day leave from her job in Belapur before her tragic death.
The police registered the case under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified person initially. Three teams were deployed to trace the suspect, conducting parallel investigations alongside the crime branch. Further information is awaited as the inquiry continues.
