Army Mobilizes Rescue Operations in Landslide-Hit Wayanad

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday conferred with Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi to evaluate the rescue and relief operations being executed by the Army in Kerala's Wayanad, severely impacted by a landslide.
Local authorities in Wayanad reported that the landslide has resulted in the loss of 23 lives.
Officials confirmed that Singh discussed the overall situation with the Army chief. An Army official stated that a requisition for aid was received earlier today, leading to the deployment of Army units.
Currently, approximately 225 Army personnel, inclusive of medical staff, are engaged in the rescue mission, the official added.
