Hezbollah Rejects Calls to Remain Passive Amid Anticipated Israeli Attack
Hezbollah has declined international envoys' requests to refrain from responding to an anticipated Israeli attack linked to a deadly strike on the Golan Heights. Despite diplomatic efforts, primarily led by the U.S., to limit the escalation, Hezbollah has confirmed it will retaliate if attacked.
Hezbollah has rejected international calls to avoid reacting to an expected Israeli attack, following a deadly strike on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, according to a Lebanese official.
The group, which denies involvement in the initial attack that killed 12, informed mediators that it would retaliate if Israel strikes.
A U.S.-led diplomatic effort hopes to prevent widespread conflict, urging Israel to avoid targeting Beirut and other Hezbollah strongholds. Nonetheless, Hezbollah remains committed to responding if provoked, doubting Israel's restraint towards civilian areas, the official stated.
