Hezbollah Senior Commander Killed in Israeli Strike: Rising Tensions in Beirut

An Israeli airstrike on Beirut has allegedly killed a senior Hezbollah commander, as reported by Israel's public broadcaster in retaliation for a deadly rocket attack three days prior. The strike comes as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalate following the deaths of 12 youngsters in a cross-border incident.

According to two sources, the commander Muhsin Shukr, also known as Fuad Shukr, responsible for a recent rocket strike on the Golan Heights, was critically injured and later died. Lebanon's Health Minister confirmed another fatality and 35 injuries in the attack.

The Hezbollah group, which has denied involvement in the original Golan Heights incident but admitted to targeting military sites, is now in a tug-of-war of blame and defense. This latest escalation has led to diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider conflict, with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressing concern over potential further violence.
