Dean Macpherson Commits to Fast-Tracking EduPark Development in Mamelodi

Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has pledged to accelerate the development of the EduPark community project in Mamelodi, located east of Pretoria. This initiative, which includes the Mamelodi Skate Club, aims to leverage State assets for community benefits.

Minister Macpherson highlighted that the EduPark project, supported by international donors, is poised to bring sports, education, and agricultural facilities to the area. However, progress has been stalled due to delays in releasing unused State land in Mamelodi.

"To maximize the impact of public assets, it's essential that we forge more partnerships with private and non-profit organizations," Macpherson said. "Utilizing unutilized public land for community development should be a priority."

He pointed out that when State land is neglected, it often becomes a site for illegal activities and waste, leading to unjust criticism of municipal authorities. "We need to collaborate with municipalities to address and repurpose problematic properties for the public good," Macpherson emphasized.

The EduPark project represents a significant opportunity to transform unused State land into valuable community resources, aligning with the broader goal of enhancing public asset management and community welfare.
