Notorious ATM Thief Arrested: Mewat Man’s Nationwide Crime Spree Ends
A 39-year-old man from Mewat, Wahid alias Lalu, involved in over 50 criminal cases including ATM thefts across India, has been arrested by the Delhi Police's Special Cell. He was wanted in several states and declared a proclaimed offender in three cases. A raid led to his capture in Delhi.

Delhi Police's Special Cell has apprehended a 39-year-old Mewat-based man, Wahid alias Lalu, involved in over a dozen ATM theft cases resulting in losses amounting to around Rs 1 crore. The accused was taken into custody on Wednesday, officials confirmed.
Wahid, a resident of Firozpur Jhirka in Nuh, faced charges in Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. His criminal history is extensive, including over 50 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, and other serious offenses. Wahid had been declared a proclaimed offender in three separate cases.
Acting on a tip-off received on July 23, the police conducted a raid at a flat in Wazirabad village, Delhi, where they successfully nabbed Wahid. Officers recovered a pistol and five live cartridges from him. Wahid, who had studied up to class 5, embarked on his criminal career in 2004 with a vehicle theft arrest.
