Moldova Expels Russian Diplomat Amid Treason Allegations
Moldova has expelled a Russian diplomat and summoned Russia's ambassador after detaining two officials on treason and conspiracy charges. These officials are accused of providing information to the Russian embassy's deputy defence attache in Chisinau.
Moldova's foreign ministry announced on Thursday that it had expelled a Russian diplomat following recent detention of two officials on charges of treason and conspiracy.
The ministry also summoned Russia's ambassador to issue a formal protest over the situation.
Moldovan security sources stated that the detained individuals are suspected of providing sensitive information to the deputy defence attache at the Russian embassy in Chisinau.
