Congress' deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, has urged a comprehensive review of the new Parliament building's design, construction, and facilities. Gogoi emphasized the need for the edifice to embody the highest traditions of Indian parliamentary democracy.
Opposition leaders have recently criticized the Modi government following a reported water leakage in a lobby of the new building, with Congress MP Manickam Tagore sharing a video of the incident. Tagore noted that the leakage highlighted pressing weather resilience issues just a year after the building's completion.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat attributed the minor leakage to the displacement of an adhesive material used to fix glass domes during heavy rain. Immediate corrective measures were taken, and no further leakage has been observed since.
