Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday accused the Centre of attempting to imprison Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by investigating minor issues against the opposition while protecting its own members involved in significant crimes. Rao made these allegations during a press briefing in Dakshina Kannada district.
Rao criticized BJP leaders for allegedly misusing governmental bodies such as the Governor's office, Income Tax Department, and the Directorate of Enforcement to destabilize non-BJP governments across the country. He cited attempts in states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, West Bengal, and Kerala as examples.
The comments came in response to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's show cause notice to Siddaramaiah concerning the MUDA site allotment 'scam,' which allegedly benefits the CM's wife, Parvathi. According to Rao, the Central government's actions reflect an undeclared emergency aimed at pressuring and jailing opposition leaders while providing immunity to BJP members.
