Recent reports provide detailed state-wise and year-wise data on the number of Lok Adalats organized and cases disposed of by National Lok Adalats, State Lok Adalats, and Permanent Lok Adalats (Public Utility Services) over the past three years and the current year.

Lok Adalats are convened by Legal Services Institutions periodically to address case backlogs in courts and facilitate dispute resolution at the pre-litigation stage. These ad hoc forums are designed to alleviate the burden on the judicial system by settling disputes without the need for formal court proceedings.

Since Lok Adalats are not permanent entities, any cases that remain unresolved are returned to the regular court system. No specific disposal targets are set before organizing a Lok Adalat, reflecting the flexible nature of these forums in managing case flow.
