Kim Jong Un Oversaw Delivery of Missile Launchers
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the transfer of 250 tactical ballistic missile launchers to front-line troops, signaling a possible threat to South Korea. The launchers were described as a modern weapon designed by Kim. The rising tensions come amidst U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has supervised the delivery of 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers to front-line troops, according to state media KCNA on Monday. Seoul officials have indicated that these could pose a threat to South Korea. The advanced launchers were described as a modern tactical weapon personally designed by Kim and are set for deployment with the Korean People's Army units near the border.
Last month, North Korea test-fired a new tactical ballistic missile. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff spokesperson Lee Sung-joon suggested that these launchers are intended for various uses, such as attacking or threatening South Korea. The close deployment implies a limited range.
Photographs from KCNA depicted rows of launchers alongside red banners, marking an event held at night and attended by Kim Jong Un. In his speech, Kim accused the U.S. of creating a 'nuclear-based military block,' which he claimed forced North Korea to fortify its military capabilities further.
