Chaos Erupts in Rajasthan Assembly Over Prosecutor Appointments

The Rajasthan Assembly session descended into chaos over the appointment of public prosecutors under outdated IPC sections instead of the new BNSS. Speaker Vasudev Devnani adjourned the House multiple times amid protests and heated debates, culminating in the suspension of Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar. The Rajasthan Assembly was thrown into disarray on Monday over the appointment of public prosecutors under outdated sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) instead of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Amid the uproar, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani adjourned the House twice, and it was eventually adjourned for the day by Assembly Chairperson Sandeep Sharma.

The unraveling chaos led to the suspension of Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar, following a proposal by Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg. Tensions escalated after Congress MLAs alleged procedural violations and favoritism, leading to heated arguments and demands for government clarification, which were denied by Devnani citing House rules.
