Man Arrested for Alleged Rape on Pretext of Marriage

The Delhi Police have detained 24-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary for allegedly raping a woman under the pretext of marriage. Chaudhary had a four-month relationship with the woman before fleeing Delhi in May. He was caught in Aligarh after the woman filed a complaint in July.

The Delhi Police have detained a 24-year-old man named Saurabh Chaudhary on allegations of raping a woman under the guise of a marriage promise, officials said on Monday.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Rohit Meena, Chaudhary was involved in a four-month relationship with the complainant. He reportedly promised to marry the woman but later backed out and established a physical relationship with her.

He was apprehended in Aligarh following the complaint filed at Vasant Kunj South police station on July 13. Chaudhary had left Delhi in May, avoiding the marriage commitment. Following the filing of an FIR, police teams tracked him down in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He has now been produced in court and remanded to police custody.
