Undertrial Escapes Custody in Patna Before Court Appearance

An undertrial named Mohd Asif escaped from police custody in Patna on Monday before he was to be presented in court. He fled from constable Gumesh Yadav escorting him to a sessions court. A case has been registered, multiple teams deployed for a manhunt, and the constable suspended pending an inquiry.

An undertrial, brought to Patna from Beur Central prison, escaped from custody just before his scheduled court appearance on Monday, Patna Police confirmed.

According to the police statement, Mohd Asif evaded the policeman escorting him while en route to a sessions court in the Pirbahore area.

Constable Gumesh Yadav, the officer responsible for transporting Asif, has been suspended, and a departmental inquiry has been launched. Authorities have registered a case and deployed teams to recapture the fugitive.
