Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin declared on Monday that an interim government will be formed post the dissolution of parliament. He also authorized the release of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who remains under house arrest after multiple convictions.

In a meeting with political leaders and civil society at Bangabhaban, attended by the chiefs of the three armed forces, Shahabuddin emphasized urgent measures to normalize the current anarchic situation, as reported by daily Prothom Alo.

The president also mandated the release of students detained during recent protests and offered condolences for deaths during the anti-quota movement. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's sudden resignation and departure in a military aircraft exacerbated the nation's turmoil, igniting protests and violence.
