Two government employees and a private individual have been booked for allegedly taking bribes in separate instances in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar and Dindori districts, officials confirmed on Tuesday. Rajendra Kumar Marko, an accountant at the Block Education Office in Mehandwani, Dindori, reportedly demanded a bribe from M K Namdev through intermediary Rajesh Uikey to clear documents related to Namdev's pension and gratuity following his retirement on May 30.

The issue came to light when Namdev's son lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta, precipitating a sting operation. Uikey was caught at Marko's residence purportedly accepting the bribe, according to a Lokayukta police official. Both Marko and Uikey now face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In a separate case in Bina town, Sagar district, sub-inspector Piyush Sahu, in charge of the Nai Basti police post, was detained accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe from a bus owner to release a vehicle confiscated in an accident case. Sahu was apprehended while taking the bribe at a private hotel, the official disclosed.
