KYIV, Aug 6 (Reuters) - A deadly missile strike hit a residential area in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring 12 others, including an eight-month-old baby. Ukrainian officials stated that a medical clinic was among several buildings damaged in the attack.

Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that the strike involved an Iskander ballistic missile. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy mentioned on Telegram that rescue operations are underway for people trapped under the rubble in the densely populated area.

City mayor Ihor Terekhov and other officials reported extensive damage to dozens of cars, residential, and administrative buildings. The city has faced relentless attacks since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
