Lieutenant General Ashokraj Sigdel Appointed Acting Chief of Nepal Army
The government of Nepal has appointed Lieutenant General Ashokraj Sigdel as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) effective from August 9. This follows CoAS Prabhuram Sharma's mandatory leave prior to his retirement. President Ram Chandra Paudel sanctioned the appointment based on the Council of Ministers' recommendation.
The government of Nepal has announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Ashokraj Sigdel as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) starting from Friday, according to an official statement released on Thursday.
Current CoAS Prabhuram Sharma, due to start a mandatory month-long leave on Friday before his formal retirement on September 9, handed over charge to Lt. Gen. Sigdel at a ceremony held at the Nepal Army Headquarters. This, as confirmed in the statement by the Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information.
The appointment of Lieutenant General Sigdel was sanctioned by President Ram Chandra Paudel, following the recommendation made by the Council of Ministers, effective from August 9.
