Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka on Thursday convened a high-level meeting with senior state officials, emphasizing the need to ensure government schemes reach villages in Naxalite-affected and tribal regions.
Deka, who recently assumed office, called for the expansion of telecommunication facilities in these areas. Officials present included Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain and Director General of Police Ashok Juneja. The governor assessed the law and order situation, the implementation of central and state government schemes, and disaster management preparedness.
Deka also gathered details about the geography of Left Wing Extremism-affected regions and emphasized the need for Naxalites to surrender and for their prompt rehabilitation. Moreover, he reviewed efforts to combat human trafficking and urged for the swift filling of vacant police department positions. He also inquired about the social and cultural development expenditures in scheduled areas through CSR and the District Mineral Foundation fund.
