UN High Commissioner Alarmed Over Mass Executions in Iran

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk is deeply alarmed by reports indicating that Iranian authorities have executed 29 individuals in recent days, a spokesperson revealed on Friday.

The concern is heightened by the fact that the majority of those executed were convicted of drug-related offenses, highlighted Liz Throssell, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office.

Throssell also noted that the death toll has not been independently confirmed by the United Nations.
