Consumer Forum Orders Compensation for Undelivered Parcel

The Jalna District Consumer Redressal Forum has mandated that the postal department compensate Chetan Khandelwal with Rs 31,917 for an undelivered parcel. Khandelwal sent a 5.3 kg parcel to his daughter in Russia, which was returned underweight. The forum's decision was made on August 6.

The Jalna District Consumer Redressal Forum has issued a directive requiring the postal department to pay a compensation of Rs 31,917 to Chetan Khandelwal. The order comes after Khandelwal's 5.3 kg parcel, worth Rs 18,000, sent to his daughter in Russia, was returned in an unsatisfactory condition.

Khandelwal had dispatched the parcel in May last year for his daughter, who is studying medicine in Russia. However, the parcel was returned to him significantly underweight. This discrepancy led him to file a complaint with the forum.

On August 6, the forum concluded that the postal department had failed in its duty and ordered the compensation. This decision underscores the forum's role in addressing consumer grievances effectively.
