The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on August 12 the pleas filed by BRS leader K Kavitha challenging the Delhi High Court's verdict denying her bail in corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
The high court had on July 1 dismissed Kavitha's bail pleas in both the cases, citing her as one of the main conspirators in the conspiracy related to the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
According to the Supreme Court's cause list, Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan will hear her petitions.
The high court had earlier ruled that no case for regular bail could be made as the investigation is at a crucial stage. It rejected her plea for relief on grounds of gender, emphasizing her status as a well-educated former MP and noting the severe allegations against her.
The high court opined that Kavitha was a principal conspirator in the criminal conspiracy involving the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, as per the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) findings.
