NCB Busts Inter-State Drug Syndicate in Ulhasnagar

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) dismantled an inter-state drug syndicate operated from Ulhasnagar, seizing Codeine syrup bottles and marijuana worth Rs 1.75 crore. Six individuals were arrested in a two-day operation, involving the tracking of a consignment and subsequent interceptions in Thane district.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has successfully dismantled an inter-state drug syndicate operating out of Ulhasnagar in Thane district. Over a two-day operation, the NCB seized Codeine syrup bottles and marijuana valued at Rs 1.75 crore from six individuals.

The operation led to the confiscation of 4,800 bottles of Codeine syrup and 75 kg of ganja. Preliminary investigations suggest the drug racket was involved in the inter-state trafficking of illicitly diverted Codeine Cough Syrup (CBCS) bottles, according to an NCB official.

The crackdown began on Thursday when a consignment was traced to a courier office in Ulhasnagar. An NCB team subsequently intercepted and arrested a suspect, Vinod P. The following day, an NCB team intercepted a vehicle in Bhiwandi, seizing 75 kg of ganja and Rs 1.18 lakh in cash, suspected to be proceeds from illicit drug sales. The vehicle occupants, identified as Manish P, Akash P, Raj K, Mohanish S, and Sunny J, were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
