Jordan Declares Neutral Stance Amid Rising Iran-Israel Tensions
Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi declared that the kingdom will not become a battlefield for Iran or Israel. This comes amid escalating tensions in the region following the killing of key figures in militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah. Jordan has vowed to intercept any threats in its airspace.
Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announced on Saturday that the kingdom will not serve as a battlefield for Iran or Israel, as the region anticipates potential new hostilities following the recent killing of senior members of militant groups Hamas and Hezbollah.
"We will not be a battlefield for Iran or Israel. We informed the Iranians and the Israelis that we will not allow anyone to violate our airspace and risk the safety of our citizens," Safadi stated in an interview with Saudi-owned Al Arabiya TV. "We will intercept anything that passes through our airspace or poses a threat to us or our citizens," he added.
In April, Jordan intercepted flying objects entering its airspace during a retaliatory attack by Tehran on Israel. This followed a suspected Israeli strike on Iran's embassy compound in Syria. The escalating tensions have been further fueled by the assassinations of Haniyeh and Shukr, with Iran holding Israel responsible.
