Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will travel to Australia on August 15 and 16 for high-level political and business engagements aimed at deepening the relationship between New Zealand and its neighbor.
“This visit is a chance to build on our already strong relationship and enhance our security and economic connections,” says Mr. Luxon.
In Sydney on August 15, Mr. Luxon will focus on infrastructure. He will be accompanied by the Ministers for Infrastructure, Resources, and Transport to explore New South Wales’ experience in managing major infrastructure projects. The Prime Minister will also meet with New South Wales Government officials, speak at the Lowy Institute, and engage with Australian business leaders and investors to promote New Zealand.
“Australia is our most significant economic partner, with over $31 billion in two-way trade last year and being our largest investor. We aim to simplify business interactions across the Tasman,” Mr. Luxon adds.
On August 16, Mr. Luxon will move to Canberra for the annual Australia-New Zealand Leaders’ Meeting. “Australia is our closest ally and partner. Collaborating closely is essential as we navigate a challenging global landscape. I look forward to discussing shared interests with my counterpart, Prime Minister Albanese,” he concludes.
Mr. Luxon will depart for Sydney on August 15 and return from Canberra on August 16.
