The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the shooter as an 18-year-old local resident. Photographs from his social media show him in a military-style outfit, brandishing an assault rifle and ammunition. The Islamist group Hamas claimed the attacker as one of their members.
Violence has been on the rise in the West Bank, with both military raids and civilian attacks increasing, particularly following the conflict escalation in Gaza.
