The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday mandated the West Bengal government to produce the case diary concerning the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital by 1 pm.

The parents of the postgraduate trainee moved the HC, pressing for a court-monitored investigation. Several PILs demanded a CBI probe, with Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam noting potential lapses in the investigation. The state lawyer admitted that the statement of then-principal Sandip Ghosh had not been recorded.

The bench, including Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya, questioned the swift reinstatement of Ghosh from principal of RG Kar Hospital to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital. They requested the presentation of both his resignation and appointment letters. The woman's body, found Friday, led to the arrest of a civic volunteer on Saturday.
