Heroic Constable Saves Man at Railway Station

A government railway police constable in Maharashtra's Thane district prevented a 40-year-old man from committing suicide on August 10. The man was attempting to place his head under a train due to a marital dispute. Constable Sandeep Kachru Shewale, during night patrol, managed to pull him off the tracks with help from bystanders.

An alert constable of the Government Railway Police (GRP) foiled a 40-year-old man's attempt to commit suicide at a railway station in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official reported on Tuesday.

Constable Sandeep Kachru Shewale was on night patrolling duty at the Kalyan railway station on August 10 when he noticed the man placing his head under a stationary express train on the railway track, senior inspector Pandhari Kande explained.

Shewale heroically jumped onto the track and, with the assistance of others at the scene, managed to pull the man off the tracks, averting a tragedy.

Authorities revealed that the man's drastic actions were prompted by a marital dispute and confirmed that he was subsequently handed over to his family members.
