An 18-year-old man has been detained in Kalyan for allegedly murdering his stepfather following claims the latter 'misbehaved' with the teenager's younger sister, according to police reports on Wednesday.

Authorities also apprehended his friend, suspecting him of abetting the crime, confirmed an official from Kalyan taluka police station.

The reported incident happened on Sunday night. The 32-year-old victim resided with his wife, stepson, and stepdaughter in Kalyan. Investigations suggest he inappropriately touched the prime suspect's 13-year-old sister, ignoring previous warnings. On Sunday night, the accused purportedly lured his stepfather to an isolated spot and, with his friend's assistance, fatally stabbed him. The body was discovered the following day.
