Security measures have been intensified across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh as the region gears up for Independence Day, officials reported on Wednesday. Police personnel are not leaving any stone unturned, conducting thorough vehicle checks and flag marches at various locations.
Authorities have placed a thick security blanket around venues where governors, chief ministers, and ministers will hoist the national flag to commemorate Independence Day. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will raise the Tricolour in Jalandhar, while Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will conduct the ceremony in Kurukshetra.
In efforts to ensure public safety, the Punjab Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force apprehended five individuals in Rajpura who were wanted for multiple heinous crimes and confiscated five weapons. Additional security measures included flag marches in Pathankot and search operations at abandoned buildings, underlining the authorities' commitment to safety. Pathankot Superintendent of Police Gurbaj Singh urged residents to disregard rumors and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement immediately.
