In a startling revelation, officials in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district have uncovered the misuse of a single user ID from Sinchawali Sani village to issue 814 birth certificates across multiple states in less than two years.
The village, which has a population of just around 1,100, saw the issuance of these certificates not only for local residents but also for individuals in states like Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Karnataka.
Authorities have launched an urgent investigation, led by District Magistrate Ashish Kumar and CMO Dr. Manjeet Singh, to determine how the ID was compromised and the scope of the misuse.
