Heroic Acts Honored: Kirti Chakras and Shaurya Chakras Awarded

Colonel Manpreet Singh was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his gallantry in an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir. President Droupadi Murmu approved a total of 103 Gallantry awards, including various Kirti Chakras and Shaurya Chakras, recognizing the bravery of numerous military personnel and police officers.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, who lost his life leading an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag last September, has been posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award.

In addition to Colonel Singh, three other security forces personnel—Rifleman Ravi Kumar (posthumous), Major Malla Rama Gopal Naidu, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Himayun Muzzammil Bhat (posthumous)—were also awarded the Kirti Chakra.

President Droupadi Murmu, on the eve of Independence Day, approved a total of 103 Gallantry awards, recognizing the bravery of armed forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel, according to the defence ministry. The awards included 18 Shaurya Chakra recognitions, with several posthumously honoring those who sacrificed their lives in various operations.
