Unprecedented Security Measures Ahead of Independence Day in Delhi

Delhi Police have ramped up security for Independence Day, deploying over 10,000 personnel and installing 700 AI-based facial recognition cameras. Borders are sealed, commercial vehicles are barred, and traffic diversions have been set. Key locations are under stringent surveillance to ensure security and manage traffic efficiently.

In preparation for Independence Day, Delhi Police have significantly stepped up security measures, deploying over 10,000 personnel across the city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the national flag at the Red Fort, marking the 11th consecutive year of this tradition.

Officials have installed 700 AI-based facial recognition CCTV cameras to enhance security, especially in central and New Delhi. These high-resolution cameras can identify individuals from a considerable distance, bolstering the overall safety framework.

Traffic advisories have been issued, informing the public about route closures and diversions near the Red Fort. Since August 1, restrictions on aerial platforms like paragliders and UAVs have been enforced citywide.

The sealing of all national capital borders for commercial and heavy vehicle entry has intensified the security. Additional units, including commandos, QR teams, PCR vans, anti-sabotage units, and SWAT teams, are positioned at strategic locations. Thorough checks are being conducted on vehicles entering Delhi.

Security personnel, paramilitary forces, and over 3,000 traffic police officers are stationed at key locations such as IGI Airport, railway stations, metro stations, and malls to maintain law and order. Major junctions and roads connecting borders to the Red Fort are under strict surveillance, with eight crucial road stretches closed for general traffic.
