The Assam Police announced on Friday a cash reward of up to Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the identification of individuals involved in the making, transport, and deployment of 'IED-like devices' across the state, believed to be the work of the banned ULFA (I) outfit, an official confirmed.

Confident in resolving the case, authorities have assigned responsibilities to various officials and specialized units to advance the investigation. The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) claimed via email on Thursday to have planted 24 bombs, listing locations for 19 of them, despite technical failures preventing detonation.

Two such devices were located in Guwahati on Friday, bringing the seized 'bomb-like substances' over the last 24 hours to 10. Multiple search operations were launched, and a minor has been detained for questioning. The Director General of Police (DGP), G P Singh, stated that four cases were registered in Guwahati, with collaboration led by a Special Investigation Team under the city police commissioner. The DGP assured that no effort would be spared to capture the culprits and maintain public peace.
