Haryana Government Orders Major Transfers Ahead of Assembly Polls
In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Haryana government has transferred 21 IAS, 12 IPS, and 68 state civil and police officers. In a major reshuffle, the Haryana government on Friday issued transfer orders for 21 IAS, 12 IPS, and 68 state civil and police services officers with immediate effect.
The orders came on the day the Election Commission (EC) announced the date for the Haryana assembly elections. As a result, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect in the state.
Although official sources said the transfer orders were issued before the election schedule was announced, opposition parties targeted the BJP government, accusing it of openly flouting the poll code.
The Haryana assembly elections will be held in a single phase on October 1, with results declared on October 4.
Reacting to the transfer orders, Aam Aadmi Party's Haryana unit senior vice-president Anurag Dhanda accused the BJP government of violating the election code of conduct. He questioned how the government could transfer 86 officers even after the elections were announced, in a post on X in Hindi.
''Should @ECISVEEP remain a mute spectator? By starting the elections dishonestly, BJP has shown it has lost public support,'' Dhanda alleged.
He insisted that the time on the joining emails of all the officers should be checked, claiming that any joining after the election announcement is not valid.
Among the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers transferred is Vivek Bharti, who has been reassigned as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kaithal, replacing Prashant Panwar.
Jainder Singh Chhilar, the Additional DC of Charkhi Dadri, has been moved to Panipat as District Municipal Commissioner.
Among the Indian Police Service (IPS) officers transferred is Lokender Singh, who will assume the role of Superintendent of Police (SP) of Panipat. Rakesh Kumar Arya has been transferred as Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Law and Order in Haryana.
Narendra Bijarniya will take over as SP of Bhiwani, replacing Varun Singla, who has been moved to SP of Kurukshetra.
The government has also issued transfer and posting orders for 65 Haryana Civil Services officers and three Haryana Police Service officers.
