In a decisive move to counter escalating terrorist activities, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has posted eight superintendents of police (operations) across six districts in the Jammu region. The appointments aim to bolster anti-terror measures amidst a worrying spike in incidents and the forthcoming assembly polls.
As per an official order issued by Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Chandrakar Bharti, the new SPs will be stationed in Kathua, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, and Poonch districts. Notably, Kathua and Rajouri will each have two SPs to manage their extensive operational areas.
The newly appointed SPs, promoted from deputy commandant roles in the armed police, will focus on enhancing security and vigilance in their respective districts. This significant restructuring comes in response to 18 reported terror incidents in the region since June 9, underscoring the urgent need for reinforced security measures.
