Communal Violence Erupts in Udaipur After Teen's Death

After four days of battling for life, a 15-year-old boy who was stabbed by a fellow student and sparked communal violence in Udaipur, succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Just before the boy's last breath, his sister tied a rakhi on his wrist at the hospital during Raksha Bandhan, according to Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal.

In response to the communal violence that broke out on Friday, elaborate security measures have been implemented in the city, and mobile internet services have been suspended, police confirmed.

Inspector General of Police (Udaipur) Ajaypal Lamba announced that the boy died during treatment on Monday and that his body has been moved to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.

'The body will be handed over to his family after the postmortem,' he stated.

There is considerable police deployment outside the district hospital and additional forces have been positioned in various city locations to maintain order, according to officials.

The boy, Devraj, was attacked by a fellow student outside their school over an unspecified issue on Friday. Following the incident, local police detained the accused student and arrested his father.

Protests erupted from Hindu groups, who set cars ablaze at a motor garage and vandalized a shop in a mall.

As tension lingered, all government and private schools were shut down until further notice, and mobile internet services were suspended. Prohibitory orders banning public gatherings have also been enforced.
