The Karnataka High Court on Monday directed the special court for people's representatives, assigned to hear complaints against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment 'scam', to defer its proceedings until the next hearing on August 29.

Justice M Nagaprasanna, who listened to the chief minister's writ petition challenging the legality of the August 16 order by the Governor, stated, ''No injunction has been granted.''

In his petition, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah argued that the sanction order issued by the Governor was done without proper consideration, violating statutory mandates and constitutional principles. Siddaramaiah contended that the Governor's decision was legally untenable and motivated by extraneous factors.

The Governor's order followed petitions from Pradeepkumar S P, T J Abraham, and Snehamayi Krishna requesting sanction for prosecution of the chief minister over alleged irregularities in MUDA site allotment to his wife Parvathi.

The special court for public representatives was set to hear the case on Tuesday and Wednesday; however, it has been deferred pending further proceedings.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi represented Siddaramaiah, while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared for the Governor. In a post on 'X', Siddaramaiah expressed his gratitude to the High Court for the deferment, emphasizing his faith in the judiciary's ability to ensure justice and constitutional fairness.

''I am pleased that the High Court heard the matter and passed interim orders to defer the proceedings. I am confident that ultimately, the truth will prevail,'' Siddaramaiah stated.
