Karnataka High Court Delays Hearing on Actor's Request for Home-Cooked Meals in Custody

The Karnataka High Court delayed further hearing to September 5 on Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa's petition seeking home-cooked food, bedding, and cutlery while in judicial custody. The request was denied by prison authorities. Darshan's initial plea was rejected due to a medical report and the severity of charges against him.

The Karnataka High Court has deferred the hearing on Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s petition seeking home-cooked food and other amenities in judicial custody until September 5.

The decision follows a denial from prison authorities, who had previously refused Darshan's requests. The actor’s legal team has been given an additional week to review the prison authority's order before making further submissions.

Darshan, arrested in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, had earlier challenged a trial court decision that cited a medical report stating jail food was adequate and invoked Rule 728 of the Karnataka Prisons and Correctional Services Manual, 2021.
